Happy Birthday!!

Karly turned ONE on Saturday, December 2nd! We can't believe how fast time has gone by--it seems like just yesterday she joined our family. But, we sure can't imagine our life without her....was there life before her?!? She brightens our every day! We haven't updated the blog in awhile since we moved and were without internet for awhile, and since our last update she has taken to walking. She's not very brave...her best walking takes place with her bottle in her mouth, when she doesn't notice she's away from anything to hold onto. But she's getting there! And, still no teeth...I'm almost beginning to wonder if she has any at all?! Other than that, she's still the happy, smiley, little people-person she's always been. We sure do love her!!
Good morning, Sunshine!

We were lucky to have Darin and Shelly over to help celebrate! Karly had to tear each piece of wrapping paper off and hand it over to Darin.

Silly D!!

We gave Karly her own little cake to go at for awhile. She took a minute to get into it--she just kept stroking the top of the cake. But once I dug her hand into the cake for her, she got the idea and tore into it. And of course, the mark of a job well done, she ended up with some down her diaper!
(Her face looks orange in this picture b/c she just finished dinner and I didn't see the point in wiping off her face)

She cleans up pretty nice!!

Our Beauty

We can't believe how fast Karly is growing up! So, now I'm going to have to take a moment and gush about her...She's already 10 months old--standing, dancing, babbling non-stop, and all the other cute things that come with this age. She LOVES people and makes new friends everywhere we go--my little social butterfly that I already can't keep up with!
Karly especially loves to put on a show for everyone sitting behind us at church. She dances to the hymns and tries to sing along, and she has a new, "fake cough" that she uses to get people to look her way before flashing them a big smile. A couple weeks ago, she had the sister behind us practically in tears from laughing so hard (quiet laughing, of course). But, I do expect the Bishop to pull us aside soon and give us a talking to about keeping our child reverent for others--but either she's entertaining others or whining and crying...tough choice.
She is always sure to entertain us at home, too. She danced to the Tabernacle Choir during Conference, and loves to make new noises and then turn to see what we think of them. She sure is our sweetheart!
This is Karly doing her "fake cough"

Eating a glue stick (don't worry it's not opened!)

This is what we call the "very serious face"

She loves to smell her blankie for comfort...who doesn't?!

Thanks Ba and Poppy!

A couple days ago, we got a great package of Disneyland stuff from Ba and Poppy (they went last week.) Karly screamed with excitement and had to hold each new thing I pulled out... a t-shirt, and a matching princess bowl and plate. It was pretty cute, so I had to take some pictures of her tasting each new present.

And here is Karly in her new "Princess in Training" shirt...

Pig-tails

I finally tried to put Karly's mop into pigtails. It turned out pretty darn cute...although it was weird to see her without all that hair around her face! She didn't seem to mind too much--just gave the occasional dirty look if I pulled her hair.

Nine months old!

Here are some pics we took of Karly at 9 months! She is getting so very active! She is incredibly curious and loves to be chased!

What a rag-a-muffin!

More trip pictures...

On our way home from Idaho, we stopped by Erika's house in Utah. Karly had so much fun with all her cousins around to entertain her!

Our trips

We had a very busy August! Karly got to fly for the first time, and we did it four times in three weeks! First we went to see Grandma and Grandpa (Kelly's parents) in Colorado. Then a few days after we got home, Karly and I went to see my parents (Ba and Poppy) in Idaho. Karly did really well, for which I was very thankful!

Barclay shared his pool with Karly (in Idaho). Karly really had fun, and wasn't as disgusted as she looks in the above picture.

Having fun!

Grandma Face!

This is a picture of what Dad affectionately calls "grandma face". It seems to be the face of the week for Karly, which she does a lot...like learning a new trick. She'll do it over and over for a week or two, and then we won't see it for awhile. This particular face has made several appearances, but this time we were lucky enough to snap a few pictures. They sure are good for a laugh!---or is it just us?

She thinks she's funny, too!!

Taming the beast...

By that I mean Karly's bed-head. It has the cutest, fluffiest mind of its own!

Our attempt to tame it--

Random pics

Karly loves to look at herself in the mirror...and give herself kisses

Eating her toes in the tub

Karly finally got the right end of her binky into her mouth all by herself--just a little crooked

More 4th...

Dad shared his Fruit Roll-up

Nice faces...like mother like daughter, I guess

Karly wanted to put the camera in her mouth, like usual

Happy 4th of July!

For the 4th of July, we drove up to Payson and had a picnic by a little lake in the mountains. It was about twenty degrees cooler, there was a nice breeze, and even real grass to sit on! We had a great time! It was well worth the drive, and a much needed break from the desert heat.
